Kat arrived at the stables earlier than usual. Granted, it was already 4 in the afternoon. But that was good for her, she didn't normally get their until at least 6. 'It's not my fault.' She mused to herself. She owned her own tatoo shop, and didn't ofter close until after dark. Even though, she would drop by the stables to see Demero, her black stallion. He was a handful and practally wild to anyone but Kat. But she loved him to death. She spent all of her weekends with him, out on trails (death gallops) or doing jumps (uncontrolable leaping). She grabbed his halter and lead from the hook outside of his stall and went out into the paddock to fetch him. He galloped up to the fence, and others sometimes worried he would break it down, but he slid to a halt inches from it, and Kat jumped the fence to meet him. "Hey Demero." She grinned as he tossed him once the bridle was on. She was leading him to the gate when another horse came up beside them. "Hi there. I haven't seen you before. Who do you belong to?" She asked the horse.

"She's my boss' baby." Barbara replied from behind Kat, stepping up onto the fence then over it, dropping into the paddock easily. "Aren't you?" She murmured to the young Palomino that stood there. She moved closer and slipped the bridle over her face.
She turned back to Kat, lazily casting her gaze over the woman. "Is there a reson I haven't seen you around before?" She sounded a little pushy, it was just natural to her by now, she was guarded by nature and she knew the Palomino's safety was completely her worry to handle.

((urm, how come they both have the same last name?))
Kat laughed. "Um, yeah. I don't have alot of time, 'cause of my job. I get here when I can." She eased off a bit on the lead when Demero jerked back, ears pinned. She reached out, ruffling his forelock, causing him to toss him head. She smirked, turning back to the woman.
"Kat." She held out her hand.

((Just cause... heh, mine's pretty much brorrowed from the PB, maybe they just wonund up in the same town by luck?))
"Barbara." She paused then smiled slightly as she shook Kat's hand. "You should look into getting someone to look after your horse when you're not around, I know plenty people who'd be happy to help." She pondered adding 'like me' then decided against it. Zoe'd kill her if she did.

"Yeah, I would. But Demero bites the hand that feeds him, if that hand isn't me." Kat replied, glancing at the horse who still had his ears pinned back. "He's okay most of the time. He grases most of the day. And I'm always here on weekends." She look at the Palamino. "So how about you? You're bosses horse?"

"Yeah." Barbara shrugged, releasing Kat's hand to pat Nellie softly. "Zoe, my boss tends to be away a lot... she's a trick worker for the movies so..." She shrugged. "I get the job of looking after young Nell here." She smiled softly as Nellie tossed her mane and nickered. "Yeah, I know Nell, I'm boring you..." She cast a glance back at Kat. "Listen, I gotta get Nell into her stable but how about we go someplace and chat later?"

"How about we go for a ride?" Suggested Kat. "Demero needs a good gallop. But we can still talk while riding."

"Actually, I'm kinda forbidden to ride her." Barbara explained, a little hesitantly. "I know some of the riders around here would drop me in it soon as look at me and well, much as I love Sweet Nellie, I just can't do that."
She headed out, leading Nellie away, heading for the stables, clearly defeated.

"Hey, wait up." Kat gave Demero a tag on his lead, and he reluctently trotted to catch up to the pair. "See, look there." She pointed to a spot on the mare's leg. There was a small lump. "That's a muscle bunch. She has to be worked for at least an half an hour to get rid of that. If you don't, it could get worse." Kat smiled. Muscle bunches weren't to bit of a problem, and easily fixed. "Now you have a reason to ride. If you don't, she could be out of action for a while."

"You have no idea how much trouble I'd get in." Barbara replied stiffly. "Maybe Rose or someone could do it... I just know I really am never gonna make that mistake again." Again she walked away, freezing at the sight of a van on the driveway, hurrying to get Nellie back into her stable, removing the bridle and stroking the mare's nose before exiting and hurrying for the tack room, trying hard not to look as panicked as she felt.

"Hey, what!" Kat tied Demero outside one of the stalls, turning to face Nellie. "Looks like Barb won't be getting rid of that cramp, which, I think, has something to do with the van coming down the drive." She grabbed the bridle off the hook, slipping it over Nellie's head, fastening the straps.
She clicked her tounge, leading the Palli out into one of the small areas next to the drive. She mounted bareback, begining to warm Nellie up slowly.

Barbara slumped slowly against the wall,a small whimper escaping her as she waited for the in-coming storm to hit... quite literally probably. She closed her eyes as she waited, knowing full well she'd be lucky to get through another of Zoe's temper tantrums.

Zoe got out of the van and slammed the door, glancing at the girl riding her horse. Okay, she was actually a rider at the stables, not the groom. She headed into the tack-room, smirking at Barbara's instant shrink backwards, pulling the woman up and close, forcing her upright as she began to lay into the woman, not listening for Barbara's yells, she just wanted her gone this time.

"ZOE... STOP." Barbara's yell was clear, the pain resounding through hEr as she gave in, refusing to black out, she had to get help, someone here had to care about her enough to save her surely. "HELP!" Again, no responce came and as Zoe moved in with a kick she screamed out, pain forcing her to yell louder than before.

Kat ran into the stable, seeing 'Zoe' bearing down on Barbra. "Hey!" Kat yelled, vaulting onto Demero and cantering the short distance until they were behind Zoe. "I said HEY!" She said lounder, Demero snorted pawing the ground menacingly.
