Jaime had riden 4 different horses in the past two hours, before brining in the last one.
Jaime worked at the ASPCA Animal Adoption centre, and her job, most afternoons, was to give the horses a good work out.
She always saved her favourite for last, Danny Boy, the 17.3 hand high Clydesdale, so she could spend more time with him. He was brown, with four white socks and a bald face. He came up to the fence, watching her as she worked the other horses, before he got his turn.
He waited patiently as she did the huge job of tacking him up, having to stand on a mounting block to reach his back, tightening the girth before using the block to mount.
Her legs barely reached half way down his belly, resting neatly on either side. She rode him out into the paddock, warming him up before moving into a trot. She extented his stride, his huge hooves pounding into the dirt, and she rose slightly in the saddle. They had a canter around, which sounded like thunder to Jamie's ears, coming back to a walk.
"How come on one has taken you home, Danny Boy?" Asked Jamie, stroking his neck.

"Do you know how much it takes to feed him a week?" Asked Sarah, stepping forward. She had been watching the two of them from the centre and had come to take a closer look.
She had seen Jamie around before, she was there almost every afternoon, and sometimes on weekends. Sarah suspected that quite a bit Jamie's time revovled around Danny Boy.
"Alot more than most people can afford." She said. Her voice was naturally soft, gentle. Her bown hair rested over the white shirt she was wearing.

Jamie had jumped in the saddle when Sarah had presented herself, and Jamie only knew who she was becuase they worked at the same time in the afternoons, they had never had a conversation.
Jamie was quite shy, rather spending her time with horses than people. But she had to admit that Sarah was pretty, maybe even gorgeous. But Jamie wasn't going to say anything, she never did.
She sighed when Sarah told her the reason why no one had taken Danny Boy home. "But can't people see he's worth it?" She said, glancing at Sarah before looking down.

"Sweetie, sometimes people want to take the animals home so bad. That's not the problem. People just don't have the money. I mean, if I could, I would take all of these animals home, but I just couldn't support them." Sarah reasoned. "I already have seven animals living with me. I would take more, but I'm running out of room."

Jamie was intreaged. "You've adopted seven animals?" She asked, forgetting her shyness, and making eye contact. She would be happy with just Danny. "How do you manage? What animals do you have?"

Sarah gave a small chuckle. "Yes, I have seven. Three dogs, named Hayden, Josh and Barren. Two rats named Waffle and Teirra. A cat named Kia and a horse called Tyrant." She said, watching Jamie's eyes go wide. "Thank god they all get along. Or there would be chaos. But they're all good. Tyrant and Hayden have tiffs sometimes, but that's just play." Said Sarah, shrugging a smiling.

Jamie was stunned. "Wow...how do you afford it?" She asked, shifting in the saddle slightly as Danny shuffled his big feet.

Sarah smiled sadly. "My parents died when I was young. They left me the house a a lot of money. I lived with my aunt until the begining of last year. I moved into the house, and I was living by my self until two weeks of working here." She laughed. "I've been slowly acumulating animals ever since."

"Oh, I'm sorry about your parents." Said Jamie quietly, the shyness returning, and she looked away.

"Don't be." Sarah insisted, shaking her head. "I have seven very happy animals who benifed from it, so I'm glad I could make something good out of it."

Jamie gave a small smile, turning to look at Sarah. She didn't feel as shy around her as she did most other people. Sarah gave off, sort of a calming, non-judging vibe, which Jamie liked.

"Hey, what are you doing tonight?" Asked Sarah. It was Friday, and she didn't know if Jamie was going out with some friends, but she thought she may as well ask.

Jamie was slightly thrown off by the question, but replied non the less. "Um, nothing."

"Well then, I was thinking that you should come back to my place, and you could bring Danny with you. He could stay with me for a couple of days, as could you, and you could ride him as much as you wanted." Sarah explained.
