Evangeline paused for a second beside the trailer, long enough to pull her wavy brown hair into a loose pony tail. She hurried up the ramp of the trailer, leading down a brown and white appaloosa mare.
The mare looked around, giving a loud whinny, which was replied by some of the other compeditor's horses.
"Oh hush, Indi." Evangeline scolded, stressed, tying the mare to the side of the trailer as got their tack. The light, but sturdy saddle was well cared for, but anyone could tell it wasn't as new as some of the gleaming saddles other people had.
She glanced at the watch that she had linked to the trailer, chewing her lip as she slipped the bridle over Indi's head.
The pair were at the state finals for cross country, compeating against at least 30 other riders.
'Of course, I pick one of the hardest sports to compete in.' Evangeline mused to herself. The point of cross country was to jump all the obstacles, wether they be regular bar jumps, water jumps, or small cars, in the smallest amout of time. The obstacles were set up in a course in a huge paddock, and you had to cross a lot of country to get from one to the next.
"She should be here by now." Evangeline hissed, worriedly to Indi, who was standing patiently.

Lilly could see Evie stressing from a mile away. She consisdered, for a moment, keeping her distance untill the race was over, but thought that might be a bit harsh on Evie. Lilly shook her head, grinning as she made her way over.
"Hey there beautiful girl." She cooed, sidling up beside the brunette, wrapping an arm around her hip, and kissng her face. "How are you doing?" Indigo was already tacked, standing next to the trailer, and gave an almightly shake when Lilly arrived.

Evie pulled away from Lilly, moving to re-tighten Indi's girth. "Where had you been?" She questioned, tugging at the straps, huffing as Lilly pushed her out of the way to finish the job herself. "You said you would be here."
Evie knew that she was being grumpy, but today was a big day for her, and she didn't know if she was ready for a show like this.

Lilly rolled her eyes, leaning against the appaloosa mare. "I had to take care of Duncan." She explained, referring to her chestnut paint gelding. "When I got up this morning, he had totally tangled his rug, and it took me fifteen minutes to get him out of it." She grinned at the memory of the large horse uncomfortable in his rug and looking very sorry for himself.
"It was pretty funny." She said. "But I'm sorry I wasn't here for you." She put her finger through one of Evie's belt loops, pulling her in for a kiss.
