((blanket first, then the saddle, do up the 'girth' as tight as you can. Put on the bridle, by making sure the horse takes the 'bit' in his mouth. once the bridle is on, go back and see if you can tighten the girth any more, to check the horse wasn't holding it's breath. sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.))
"Thanks." Tamara said, following Cam in. She was slightly daunted by being in a confined space with such a big animal, but Cal didn't seem bothered at all.

"Alright you start by placing the blanket on his back, like this," she cautiously approached the horse and gently placed the blanket on, she waited a moment then took it off and stepped back, offering to Tamara, "Now you try, Cal needs to get used to you, don't be scared."

Tamara slowly took the blanket, moving forward to stand next to Cal. She lifted it up, though it was a streach, and placed it over his back. She turned to Cam. "Like that?"

"Exactly like that" she beamed. "Ok now the saddle, place it on like the blanket, but be careful the weight my shock him."

Tamara lifted the saddle off it's stand, hevier than she had expected, and struggled, but succseaded in placing it on Cal's back. She was worried that she was going to hurt him, and that he would attact her, but he simply turned his head curiously, to see what she was doing, and possible why it was taking so long.
"Okay, now what?" Tamara asked.

((This could go ofor a while, perhaps we could just skip ahead and you can say that with a little help you succesfully tacked up Cal? sound good?))
"Next we have to do up the girth" she said indicating to the strap hanging from the saddle. "Like this" and she showed her, "you have to do it as tight as possible and then come back later and check it can't go any tighter, because some horses think they're ever so clever and puff out their stomachs to make the saddle loser. If that happens the saddle will slide and you will fall out. Make sense?"

Tamara nodded, slightly put off by the idea, but not giving up.
A few minutes later, they were standing in the middle of a round arena. It was covered in sand, and was undercover. It had turned out that Cal didn't suck in breath, with comforted Tamara somewhat, but she was still nervous as they waited for Sophia.

Cam was delighted at how well Tamara saddled her horse and was interested in watching her ride so she decided to hang around for a while after they reached the arena "Are you excited?" she asked enthusiastically, she remembered how happy she was about her first lesson, but one look at Tamara reveled that she was probably more nervous then anything else.

"A little. But I don't know how I'm going to do. I've never done anything like this before. I mean, I barely ride a bike. I'm just know I'm going to screw up somehow." Tamara said, chewing on her lip. She turned to Camara, still keeping a tight grip on the reins, as if, if she let go, Cal would become suddenly violent, and stomp on her.
"How do you not get scared when you ride?"

"I was a little nervous when I had my first lesson, I think I nearly fainted when I got on to Bailey, but once I got used to it, it sort of came naturally" Camara answered. She noted how tightly Tamara gripped the reins and added, "But don't worry, you'll be fine, I bet you'll enjoy it!"

Tamara nodded, unconvinced. "But wasn't Bailey a begginers pony?" She remembered seeing the name plate of Bailey on her way in. And next to Cal, he seemed reasonably tame.
"Cal is not." She commented. "How can I be sure he won't buck me off, or something?"

Cam ran her eyes over Cal and had to agree with Tamara, he was pretty big for a beginner, but he seemed pleasant enough. "He may be big, but he seems pretty docile. Don't worry, the trainers won't let anything happen to you. Not that anything is going to happen to you." Cam hoped that sounded encouraging. Tamara's instructor came in to veiw on Cam's left. "Look here comes your instructor now."

Sophia entered the sand covered arean, lunge lead slung over her shoulder. She made her way over to where the two girls were standing, and seeing Tamara holding the reins like a vice.
"You'll be fine." Sophia assured her, handing the lunge to Cam, as she moved beside Tamara. "Now, to mount, you put your left foot in the stirrup, and pull your body up." She saw Tamara pale. "Don't worry, we'll help you." She turned to Cam. "Can you clip that onto Cal's bridle? You don't mind assisting, do you?" Sophia smiled at Cam.

Cam didn't mind one bit and immediately clipped the lead onto the horses bridle. "I would love to help." She beamed at both Sophia and Tamara.

"Thank you." Sophia turned to Tamara. She linked her fingers together, making a place for Tamra to put her foot. "Look, I'll help you up. Put your foot there. Now, I'm going to lift you up, grab the saddle and pull ourself up too." She waited for Tamara to position her hands. "3. 2. 1." Sophia brought her arms up, and Tamara tosed her other leg over the saddle.
"Perfect." Sophia smiled, taking Tamara's foot, and putting it in the stirrup. She gave a quick explanatoin on the basics of horse riding. Forward, left, right.... stop. She told Tamara how to kepk her hands, and her feet.
"Cam, can you lead these two in a circle please? Just at a walk for now."
