Again Sam was struck by the difference in the way Avril talked to her, but she answered almost immediately. "All sorts of things really, like this," she said holding up a purple and silver bracelet. She put her hand down almost immediately, not wanting to draw attention to it, or herself. It was almost a knee jerk reaction, though she normally wouldn't have even show the braclet.

"Hey. That's really pretty." Commented Avril, smiling. "Can I see it?" She held out her hand, waiting for Sam to raise her hand again.

Sam was unsure, but didn't want to seem rude. She held out her hand so Avril could take a closer look.
"It's not that great, I just make them for the fun of it."

"Wow." Avril said, taking Sam's hand in hers so she could take a look. She noticed that her skin was two shades paler than Sam's, and smiled softly. She looked up, catching Sam's eye and pausing. "It's beautiful." She breathed, no longer talking about the braclet. She paused, letting her hand drop, taking a step back.

Sam blushed furiously, because of the compliment or Avril's touch she wasn't sure. "Thank-you" she mumbled.
"We should probably get going if we want to catch the bus," she said more out of a desire to remove herself from this awkward situation, then a worry of being late.

"Yeah," Avril replied, recovering quicky. She glanced at her watch. "Your right. We should get out of here. I think you will like the horses once you meet them." Avril said starting towards the bus stop. "There is one mare in particular I want you to meet."

Sam didn't particulary like the sound of that, and was becoming increasingly worried about meeting these horses, but it was far to late to back out so she followed Avril, her mind realing at the thought of all that could go wrong.

It tool less than fifteen minutes on the bus to get to the Glennoak Race Stud, and the trip was reasonably uneventful. Avril jumped off the bus, waiting as Sam followed her up the long driveway. There were lush green paddocks on either side, filled with shinning horses, some grazing quietly, other kicking up their heels as they played.
"You okay, Sam?" Avril asked as they entered the huge barn. It was less like a barn and more like a working hotel. The wood was polished, and the cobbled floor was spotless, not what you would expect of a place with over 70 horses moving around it everyday. There were people leading horses out of stables, some being led back, and those just having a wash.
