Avril wasn't the smartest in her grade, and she knew this. Most of the time she sat in class daydreaming about being outside, anywhere but the school. Though on good days she may take a few notes, before getting bored.
Avril was more punk rock than anything else. And this could be easily recognised most days by the clothes she wore; black singlet tops covered in silver graffi design and her black and gray cargo pants.
Today her wavvy blonde hair hung around her shoulders, looking great after the long shower she had taken that morning after returning home covered in sweat. She worked with race-horses and it was her job to exersize them on the course, keeping them in shape. She went before school, when the ground was still frozen and worked them in the cool mist, and after school, running them in the harsh afternoon sun. This didn't leave much time for homework, and added in for even worst grades.
But grades didn't matter much for Avril. She was one of the more 'wanted' girls at the school. She didn't call herself popular, due to her lack of decent friends( though she did have some, just not all of them in the school), but lots of girls wanted to be her, most wanting to date her instead. This was of course a routine thing for her. Dodge a few girls, get a few numbers. It was all in a days work for Avril.
But like most, she didn't let it go to her head. She wasn't bitchy or stuck up, like most of the other girls wo had guys chasing them everywhere. Though she did tent to leave a trail of broken hearts in her wake, normally getting bored with girls quite quickly. But never the less, the girls just kept coming, trying thier luck.
Avril's blue eyes settled on the girl across the room from her. Samantha Downing, the smart but shy girl most people didn't notice.
But Avril noticed her. She had been watching Samantha for a while, seeing how she worked. She knew that she doesn't like big crowds or noisey people. She gets pushed around quite a lot, which Avril objects to, but not in front of Samantha.
A breeze glided in through the open window next to Avril, sweeping her hair back over her shoulders. She smiled, turning to look out the window at the green grass, eyes stopping on the huge Maple.
The bell went and Avril stood up, slinging her bag over she shoulder, heading for the door. In someone's hurry, they pushed by, and another person bumped into Avril.
She glared after him, talking to person he had pushed into her. "Are you okay?" She turned to see that it was Samantha, and smiled.
